Ancient Pocket Lint?
I know it's a bit nerdy, but I analyzed many of my small antiquities under a microscope and something caught my attention. Nearly all of my Roman coins and a few other items had fibers attached to the patina; fibers not visible to the naked eye. Patina is the encrustations that an item accumulates over time. I recognize that these fibers could have attached at any point during the items life; anywhere from antiquity to modern day. The fact that the fibers are attached to the patina, however, hints to the fibers being old, if not ancient. It is interesting to think that these fibers may have come from the robes or clothing worn by the ancient Romans and/or Israelites.
